Mynd Mac

News

40 runners turned out for this charity fell race, on a lovely sunny, but breezy, day to run 5 miles over the Long Mynd and complete 419m of ascent. To me though, whether there are 40, or 440 competitors, the main concern is comparing myself against Gary G, he of the reckless downhill racing, and today that competition went down to the wire, or in Gary’s case, the finishing funnel tape. After 3100 seconds of arduous running, Gary sped past me to win by a second (having had to duck under the tape to get to the line). Sam M finished a commendable 9th (44.23), in his first ‘proper’ fell race (Hatterall Hammer didn’t compare), 4 minutes behind the winner (an MV40 from Todmorden, who came along to show us how it’s done). Gary P, running despite his ‘lurgy’, was 10th (45.41). Gary G was 21st (51.41), with me 22nd (51.42), and Tom, the 3rd MV65 competing, 35th in 60.14.
