Snowdon International Fell Race

Race Reports
Totalling 10 miles up the main Llanberis path around the summit of snowdon and back, the race is always well supported by the Croft fell running contingent. Entries are always at a premium and this year being the 40th anniversary only three Croft runners managed to get in.
Conditions were good at low levels but the wind increased with elevation and at the summit  runners were forced to hold onto the cairn to prevent being blown over the edge!
Gary Pearson, continuing his ‘racing-training’ programme for the UTMB, had another excellent run finishing in 84th place, 8th mv45 in 1.33.03. GaryG 388th, 2nd mv65 in 2.02.08. Brian Davies 415th, 2nd mv70 in 2.06.53.
The race was won by Emanuele Manzi of Italy in 1.10.18 and Sarah McCormack of the Republic of Ireland was first lady in 1.20.56. There were 610 finishers.

  1. A historical aside to Tom’s notes on the Snowdon race, reminds me of when I ran it as a 21 year old novice fell runner in 1977. I seem to recall I was in third place at the summit but lost a couple of places on the descent, finishing in about 72/73 mins, though not sure if the start and finish are still in the same place.. The race was won by the great Ricky Wilde with other fell running legends Mike Short, Harry Walker, Andy Styan etc also in the field. Those days gone, and these ones left not far behind…Mick
