Boxing Day Run, and Club’s 30th anniversary

News

A good Croft turn-out to celebrate 30 years of Croft’s existence, and 28 years of this particular race. The course itself was probably the wettest we’ve ever known it, but at least the rain held off until all the runners were home. 36 runners representing Croft and 21 from Lucton were given starter’s orders, once said starter had worked out how to start the watch. Suzanne pushed Stacey hard up to the the Ambrey but then Stacey managed to pull away on the downhill and be first to cross the line (19.07), winning the new trophy for the first placed individual (30 seconds ahead of Suzanne). Andy Davies had a fine run in 3rd, only 10 seconds further back. Paul and Mick, with Ruth also ducking under 20 minutes, ensured Croft had 8 of the top 10 places. Jasper Robinson, improving all the time, outsprinted a Lucton runner, Jeremy and Irina, to finish 12th (20.41). Helen made her annual trip south, and crossed the line in 24th ( but recorded as the 6th Lucton finisher, despite loyally wearing her Croft sky blue vest) Nicky successfully completed the course, after a 2 year(?) lay-off from competitive running, poor Patrick however was less successful, turning his ankle over, just as his brother Gary had a month earlier on the Wrekin. The team competition saw Croft (1037pts) beat Lucton (503pts). Full results on Results page (go via Events)
