Brecon 10 – Stacey Morgan

News

This was the 25th running of this event, and the 400 runners were greeted with ideal weather conditions.
It was announced over the loudspeaker at the start that Martin Rees (M55) was attempting to break the world record for his age group.
He led from start to finish and smashed the record with a time of 53:56. He could have gone even quicker on a flatter course, and with some company to help pace him.
I had a good battle with three of the Brecon lads, we ran together for the first 8 miles and then I pushed the pace up the big hill at 8.5 miles, and managed to get a bit of a gap over the others, and pushed on from there. I always had enough left in me to hold off any challenge and finished strongly in 6th place, 59:07.
Finished first in my category in the East Wales Championships, which earned me selection for the Inter regional championships at Caernarfon later this month.
