Carding Mill Canter

News

Gary and Guy were the only (first claim) Croft participants, in this the last (?) of the Shropshire winter fell running series. It was a pleasant surprise to have relatively dry conditions, even though there was no chance of avoiding getting wet, in one of the many stream crossings. 84 completed the course, won by Andrew Cale (SAC), in 40.36, 3minutes and 14 secs ahead of his nearest rival. Mick was suffering and came home 5th M50, 32nd in 54.52. Guy in trainers (faulty memory meant no studs) was next, in 55.03 (1st M65), with Gary 39th (56.55), on the heals of his arch rival from Shropshire Shufflers, Colin Williamson, who beat him by 3 seconds (familiar story, like Clee Hill: how can Gary gain 4 seconds in a race?); despite this, Gary was 1st M60, and should have the series title too. Congratulations, Gary, on the hours of running put in over the Shropshire Hills. It was a nice surprise too to be cheered on at the top of the last hill by Sue and Mark.
