Cardington Cracker – Guy

News

This was probably the mildest Cardington race, and the driest course that I’ve known over the last 4 years – it was a shame though that the farmer had decided to spread muck on the start/finish field! 260 runners set off up the field, only to have to (politely) queue at the first narrow gateway, before being directed up a wet, muddy green lane. The Lawley (1200ft) is the first ascent, before Caradoc (1500ft) at about halfway, and then the long slog over Gaerstone Hill, and Willstone, with further climbs beyond, and then the run down, via stiles, to the (smelly) finish. Matt (whom I ‘ran’ into on top of Caradoc) got there before me ( 136th, in 1.48.56), while I crossed the line a minute later in 1.50.09, 146th, first over 65.
