The second half of the handicap season opened with the first venture off road in the club’s long established base of Croft Woods.
Kim dashed from a hectic day of saving lives to run a solo race – first away and first home – as she regains some fitness and form. Liza followed Kim home before setting off back round the course to rescue Stuart who was again experiencing another episode in his lengthy catalogue of running injuries.
Neil Taylor completed the top 3 – taking a break from triathlon challenges and completing the course just 10 seconds shy of his best time.
There were some promising debuts over the course from Sam, Larry and Kevin.
Gary and Alison completed a season’s double by setting records in their respective age groups to go with the Leinthall Starkes records set earlier in the year.
Gemma, despite taking a detour to admire the view and pick a few scented wild flowers, recorded a time that places her at no. 6 on the all-time list. If the true route is now imprinted in her memory bank, there should be a further climb up the ladder next time.
Neil Powell again underlined his development with a storming run that knocked almost a minute off his previous best time and elevated him to no. 10 on the all-time list.
A longer gap than usual before the next handicap event which will take place on Tuesday 16th August starting at 7 p.m.
