Favourable conditions for the penultimate race in the 2010 Handicap series were reflected in the setting of 6 personal best performances.
Kim ran a solo race running scared every step of the way as she kept all the opposition well behind to cross the line first and was rewarded with an excellent P.B. 2 old timers followed, both breaking their own respective age group course records by a huge margin as Bryan and Guy proved that there is plenty left in the ancient legs. Guy’s French trip obviously inspired him as breaking 26 mins. is a worthy achievement. Bryan was stung into proving himself as he was whooped in his age-group in last sunday’s Tenbury 10K.
Sue and Mark were involved in a sprint finish with neither prepared to give an inch. They were both rewarded with P.B.s with Sue now featuring as no.2 female on the all-time list and setting a new age-group record, and Mark climbing to no. 10 in the male rankings with a time that was just 19 seconds slower than Cooperman’s V45 record set 12 years ago.
Matt and Adam explored the Woods for the first time and now have a target for the final event in this summer’s series. This will be held on 7th Sept at 7 pm. Please try to be punctual as darkness descends early as autumn approaches.
