Hereford half marathon

News

A dozen Croft Ambrey runners took advantage of cool, dry weather conditions to record a very creditable set of performances in this year’s Hereford Half Marathon. The main plaudits must go to Mark Lamonby, our first runner home in 10 th place overall with a time of 1:24:32 (chip time), closely pursued by Andrew Davies, one of our outstanding youngsters in 1:25:24 (17 th place). Gemma Mallett had another excellent run, being 3 rd Croft runner home and 5 th lady in 1:33:25. This for Gemma was a warm-up for the Edinburgh Marathon which takes place in a week’s time. Good luck Gemma! Lots of other very respectable performances followed, as shown below. The Hereford Half Marathon is known for quite a tough start. It is mostly uphill for the first 2.5 miles and undulating for the next 4 miles or so but offers quite a fast finish for those with any energy remaining. It’s quite scenic and well-supported, making it a popular race and worth a few more Crofters next year.
