Three Croft shirts were seen at this event this year: Bryan, Mick Ligema and myself. Rumour has it, Mick visited Leominster pool the week before, to check he could still swim. He finished an impressive 68th out of 176 in 1:05:36.
Bryan finished in 1:24:04, hardly breaking a sweat as the day just got hotter and hotter.
I was very pleased with my 1:13:19 as I improved 7 minutes on last year coming in 111th – still on my son Tom’s hybrid bike (I did remove the basket!). That put me half-way up the results table for the ladies!
(Nicky Turvey, in Hereford Tri Club colours, came in 46th place with 1:02:42)
This continues to be a lovely, friendly event, particularly good for beginners. Marshals clearly want all participants to have a positive experience on the day, and help accordingly.
It is well organised, the layout is compact and the distances involved in the race are not too fearsome. There are hills in the cycle and run, however, that pose a challenge. You don’t have to have all the posh gear to participate – but for those jostling for prizes of course it helps!
