Record turn-out for the 25th anniversary of the event, and the appearance of Brian (only runner to have competed in every race – Tom missed one) and Mick (we believe he still holds the course record from Nov 1990).The combined ages of the two winners are just about half Brian D’s age, and a little less than half our President’s!
Stacey was back to more impressive ways, coming in 5th (50.24), with Simon shrugging off injury to record 52.09 (11th) and Dave R again running well, in 17th (53.39). Dan completed the A team, putting us 2nd, behind Wye Valley.Mick was 1st over 50 this time, again despite some injury worries and Dave Moss made a welcome reappearance, with Rachel getting in training by pushing the buggy up to the start.Gavin and Dave A seemed to find the course a stiff challenge to maybe not fully fit bodies, and Ian Price seems to have dropped out. Matt managed to finish in the top half of the field, just (61.57), holding off a challenger at the finish. Gary beat Guy, Brian beat Jimmy, and Tom beat Bryan.
It was good to see Suzanne again, but she is clearly not used to the hills from her training in Cardiff. She was 7th, with Nicky not too far behind in 14th, despite all her injury problems. Liza held off a younger challenger to finish 25th, and give the team 3rd place. Sue and Karen gritted their teeth and completed the course in respectable times, with 23 and 20 runners behind them, respectively
