What a glorious day and glorious scenery! Even a comedy routine from the race director at the start. 154 runners turned out this year, and from the start it was a fast downhill for over a kilometer, levelling off before the first climb around 4km. The going was mostly excellent, soft dry grass with a short section of metalled road. As we reached the top of the last rise we could hear the somewhat sombre thumping of the samba drums at the finish.
Matt James won in 39.21, with just a 20 second cushion, from Mike Ballantyne.Glyn W ran very well to finish in 8th (42.50). Simon P was first first-claim Croft runner to finish: 18th (45.01). Dave P, 24th, was a little way behind in 46.05. Guy was 38th (48.15), Gary 44th (48.52), Suzanne 55th (50.23), Tom (64th) a whisker in front of Frank (51.22, and 51.25), and Nicky on her way back to full fitness, 77th (53.21).
