Midlands Masters – Droitwich

News

Mark and I ventured into deeper waters, to see the bigger fish swimming in bigger ponds, and came away reinforced with the knowledge that we are relatively small fry. The course (8K for men under 65, 6K for women and older men) was round playing fields with some added wooded pathways including a little undulation, but basically a fast track with virtually no mud (and certainly no stream crossings). We both finished 12th (Mark ran 8K in 36.01, and I did the 6K in 29.57) in our categories, though Mark could console himself with the thought that he’ll soon move up to the over 50s, in which case he’d have been 10th. There were a surprising 20 runners in the MV65 and still 7 in the MV70. We were blessed with fine weather, but for me the run was too fast, and probably also too short and too flat.
