A day that defied the forecasts: wall to wall sunshine, and only mist in the valley but some frosted, hard terrain and slippery surfaces. 13 Croft runners competed in a field of some 300 runners. Simon had a good race, finishing 16th, in 79.12, but pursued by young Dave who must have been gaining on him on the descent from High Vinnals and finished 19th (80.06). Sue D (85th, 91.14) held off Dave G (90th, 91.50), with Frank not far behind in 109th (94.41) with Jimmy, who must have been training in secret, finishing 119th (95.30). Mark was clearly struggling to get up to High Vinnals, but stuck in there to cross the line in 98.06, in 138th place, just ahead of Nicky, 142nd in 98.46. Daren, who doesn’t much like hills, ran well to finish in just under 100 mins (144th, 99.39). Gary seemed to have found it hard going, and crossed the line 180th in 105.24, ahead of Adam (202nd, 109.15). Neil was 216th (lack of recent training?) in 112.21 and Steve, who also doesn’t like hills, 229th in 115.45.
