New fiction book based in Crofties training ground?!

News

If you haven’t read any of Ben Aaronovitch’s books about copper Peter Grant, you won’t know that the 5th in the series is based in Herefordshire.
Not only that, but it is based HERE!
It was a weird experience reading it, as I recognised every wood, gate and field! Pound Lane, the gates at Whiteway Head, Pokehouse Wood, Aymestry and the Riverside pub to name a few. I think the main village (‘Rushpool’ in the story) is Yarpole. I’m not sure that anyone but local people will realise just how accurate the geography is.
If you want to give it a go, you will need to read at least the first book to get an idea of the mix of police proceedural and fantasy/magic involved and they are an adult read, so don’t pass them on to your kids until you’ve read it!.
As far as I know none of us have ever been chased by a Unicorn, or met the Fae but it has made my recent runs far more entertaining!
