Ladies’ vet team
Second in the County Championships

A cold easterly, the day before the snow came. Ladies ran the same course, men had an extra loop in the woods. Suzanne, already county Senior and Junior champion, reinforced her triumph , even if having to settle for 2nd place behind Clara Evans (under 17). She ran 32 seconds faster than last year, whereas Nicky managed to knock 48 seconds off last year’s time, finishing in 8th. Karen ran the course for the first time (as did Kim and Rachel), finishing in a very respectable 22nd (34.34). Kim ran a blinder, chasing Rachel (24th – 35.20) but not quite catching her (25th – 35.42). The ladies finished 2nd team, out of 12. Stacey led the men home in 10th (48.22), with Richard 14th (50.07) and then Nigel Misselbrook 22nd (52.04) just ahead of Dan 23rd (52.09). This put the A team in 3rd place. Dave George is still trying to shake off an injury, but still managed 30th (53.59). Jimmy ran well to finish 39th (58.14); Tom ran strongly (44th 59.11) to beat Guy (46th – 59.55), Neil (47th -60.10) and Gary (48th – 60.19). Brian Davies appeared in time to run and to be the only over 65 to finish, since chairman Bryan took a wrong turning and a shortcut!

What an awards ceremony for Croft! First lady (Suzanne), 3rd senior lady (Kim), 2nd O.40 for Rachel, 2nd O.45 (Nicky) and 2nd team; for the men: Neil 3rd O.50, Tom 2nd and Gary 3rd O.60, Bryan 1st O.65, and 3rd team. Salvers were presented to Tom and brother Brian for having competed in the cross country league every year since it started.
