Purslow Show

News

There was a good turn out for the Purslow show race and it felt like it was considered the highlight of the show with a good number of spectators. Croft had a very good result with Simon Norwood winning the race and defending his title as he won the event last year. Suzanne Turvey was 1st lady home but also Nicky Turvey was 2nd lady home and bagged the prize for the over 40 category. Gary Gunner, Tom Davies and Frank Luscott also ran the race and made the tough hills look easy. The course started on the show ground where we ran out across flat fields onto an undulating road for about a mile. Then we started the ascent up Clunbury Hill which was a tough climb but good going under foot and wide paths which was good for us Croft runners to overtake others! We ran along the ridge for about a mile which had some lovely views which we couldn’t really appreciate whilst running hard. At this point the spectators could see the runners on the ridge, from the show ground but we probably only looked like dots, crawling along. We then had a fast finish down the side of the hill and along the road again for less than a mile to the field for a sprint finish in front of the crowd. There was a lovely atmosphere to the day and a small prize giving at the end, where Simon took away a very impressive silver trophy.
