Shobdon – race 4 of summer off-road series 2013

News

Another warm evening (the last for a while?) saw 120 runners competing in the last summer off-road series, around a varied and scenic course, even if the ground was hard and uneven in places. Starting the race with our team in second place overall, the best we could hope for was a win on the night – which was duly achieved, thanks to a magnificent 4th place from Mark L (32.33) just 30 seconds behind winner, Matt James, and young Andrew also performing heroically, in 6th (33.43). Simon in 7th had a great run and with Suzanne first lady (36.44), the A team came home first. Dave R (jnr) (35.06) finished 13th, closely followed by Glyn, Stuart and Neil P (16th, 17th and 18th). Rob was just 3 seconds behind, ahead of another Croft trio (Dave A [24th], Mick [1st over 55, 25th] and Suzanne [26th]). Had there been a ladies team, we’d have won comfortably, with Sue D 3rd (39.43), Gemma 4th (39.52) and Irina 5th (39.55). Tom had another good run (58th, 41.58), as did newcomers Joshua (61st, 42.18) and Jeremy (73rd, 43.20).

Gary G picked up the MV65 award for the series, Andrew the JM award, and Sue D and Gemma 2nd and 3rd lady respectively. Very well done all 5 of you! The A team (don’t forget to return the trophy next year!) won the 2nd place trophy.
