A tough course on a warm evening in Aconbury woods, with numerous uphill stretches until about 2/3 of the way, then fast downhill to the final climb to the finish. Croft were well represented with 7 finishers in the first 24: Stacey was a little disappointed with his 6th place (33.23) but it was still a fine result. Simon was close behind in 7th (34.15) after a triathlon 3 days before. Dave A had another great race (11th, 35.32), followed by Gavin (15th, 36.12), Neil P (17th, 36.25) and Mark (18th, 36.43). Mick, who still hasn’t served his time, was non-counting 24th (first over 50, though beaten by Geoff Kay – MV55) in 37.40. Sue (31st) flew round in 38.49, just a minute behind Clara Evans, and completed our victorious A team. Martin hung in to finish 37th (39.54) sprinting ahead of Guy (42nd, 40.20). Frank ran well to come home in 53rd (top half of the field), in 41.47, with Daren 59th (42.36) and Neil T 62nd (42.55), making a last minute decision to run ‘because there was no football’. Nidky (sic) (68th, 43.40) completed the B team (5th overall), finishing just ahead of Tom (70th, 43.55). Liza, again well into the top half of the women’s field (19th out of 46), crossed the line in 46.17, and Catherine created a D team by completing the course in 54.11.
