Summer Off-road, race 2 – Kinnersley

News

A record turnout of 146 runners (and Linda, who tested out her sciatic nerve), paddled and slipped twice round the orchards on a pleasant evening (rounded off with a magnificent sunset). The brave ones hosed themselves down afterwards, to remove the worst of the smelly mud. We were again 2nd team, behind Wye Valley, but also secured 5th and 8th places with the B and C teams. Suzanne ran a great race, leaving Clara 21 seconds behind, 20th overall. Simon returned and also had good finish in 7th, closely followed by Mark (10th), a short way ahead of Dave A and Gavin. Neil P allowed (?) Suzanne to finish one place in front, but kept Dave G at bay, who managed to push Clara back into 24th place. Nigel is gradually returning to form (32nd), Patrick and Sue D crossed the line more or less together (36th, 37th), a little way ahead of Rob and Martin.Gemma was 55th (not a course to her liking), with Gary just behind (1st MV65); Neil T, Guy, Jim, Frank and Tom followed in their wake. Jon, another regaining fitness, finished 108th a couple of strides in front of Sam. Poor Charlotte (Knott) had a muddy baptism over such a muddy course, but she crossed the line ahead of president Bryan (celebrating his birthday), who was 1st MV70 and only just behind Harry Franklin.
