Summer off-road series – Aconbury

News

On what passes for a summer’s evening, 2012 style, Croft runners turned out in force, with strength amongst the female members in particular. The course is demanding, with continuous rises, and muddy, sometimes sticky patches that sap the strength from your legs, leaving little for the final climb up to the finish. Mark L had a really great first race for the club, 9th (35.38) a few strides ahead of Glyn (12th, 35.55) another Croft newcomer whose contribution was very welcome. Dave A managed to hold off Neil P, who was chased by a fast improving Nigel M (14th, 15th and 16th), Suzanne showed good form to be first Croft lady (22nd, 37.47). Dave G, Patrick, Rob Jones (another excellent performance by a newcomer) just preceded Sue D (32nd, 39.55), with our 3rd female finisher Gemma crossing the line in 41.56. This allowed our first 3 teams to be 2nd 5th and 8th out of 28. It was good to see Jon and Jonathan Smith turning out again. Results on results page.
