Titterstone Clee

Race Reports

Once again Titterstone was covered in snow as this year’s race saw 43 start the race to the trig point, and back down again (approx 2.5 miles). Patrick was the only Croft runner, but he maintained his good form in this event, finishing 17th (23.42) as 3rd MV45, behind Lloyd Taggart (the winner in 18.26 – a record?) and just behind Andy Davies (Mercia), so in very good company. Next day Lloyd also won the Long Mynd Valleys, involving over 18k of fell racing on the Long Mynd.

News

Snow on the summit, and fog/low cloud for most of the course made for slightly tricky conditions, but not as bad as the last two years.Paul Jones (Mercia) won in 20.19, but Pat had a really good run, 15th in 23.30, having overtaken Simon (18th, 24.25) who lost 11 places on the descent. Adam had a stormer (to make up for his disappointment the week before), finishing 24th, in 26.39, ahead of both Ruth (30th, 27.36) and Sue D (36th, 27.59) who lost 12 places on her way down. Tom and I took our own route up (a risk in the low cloud), and Tom got up and then down successfully, finishing in 35.06. I was less successful, leading one other runner astray, as we hit the road a good half mile away from the finish, maybe having been distracted higher up by a runner just in front of us who took a nasty tumble onto a rock.
