Brecon 10

Race Reports
Brecon 10 is a 10 mile road race. It’s starts at the athletic track where you complete one and three quatre laps of the track before setting off onto the road. The road is a mild downhill down to a T junction where you turn left for a short distance before turning around to go back on yourself and then continue along an undulating section before getting to the first water station.
The course then continues downhill under a flyover and over a bridge which then has a steady climb up before taking a right turn towards the village of llanfrynach. Midway through the village there is a left turn which takes you around narrow lanes before returning back onto the road exiting llanfrynach.
From there you drop back down to the bridge previously crossed and continue the same road back to the athletic track which you finish by running three quarters of a lap of the track before crossing the finish line.
I was very impressed with the course, it was well marshalled, four water stations which was greatly appreciated on a hot sunny day and a lovely tshirt and medal across the finish line. My only disappointment was that the results were not published for seven days which reading previous years has been quite common. I did email the organisers and explain that runners look forward to seeing results as soon as possible and a week was far too long. They are aiming to eliminate this for next year.
I would be keen to run this again next year.
I was very pleased to get overall 90th position out of 291 runners with a time of 1:17:35. Being 7th woman and 3rd in my category.
It is a fast, competitive course and would be great for aiming for a PB on 10miles.
