Caradoc Classic

Race Reports
The first round of the Shropshire Summer Fell Series saw just 3 Croft Runners brave the chilly weather, GaryP in shorts and a  mesh vest, GaryG and Tom in almost full winter attire! However at least it was dry overhead, conditions were good underfoot and we soon warmed up on the sprint along the road and across fields before the climb to the top of Caer Caradoc. A short gentle downhill allowed us to recover before a steep grassy descent then rough stone track before retracing our steps back to the finish.
GaryP again had a good race over a distance far too short for his liking finishing 39th in 29.59. GaryG was 86th 1st mv70 in 35.43, TomD was 105th 1st mv65 in 37.52.
The race of 3.4 miles with 880 feet of climbing was won by Duncan Birtwistle of Telford A.C. in 25.12 and first lady was Zoe Barber of Mercia in 28.37, there were 129 finishers.
The next round of the Series is the Wrekin Streak on Wednesday 10th May come and join us if you can, you may even enjoy it!
