On a gloomy, showery Saturday I started the 2 km sea swim and after being pelted in the face with hands and feet in the mass of the 300 competitor start. I got into my rythym and finished the swim in 10th, 32.45. Then onto 56 miles of biking, making up to 3rd until I overshot a corner on a descent and almost lay in a hedge. Thankfully I stayed on until my chain came off putting me down to 6th. Eventually I finished the bike in 7th, 2hrs 41. Onto the half marathon with plenty of hills, 4 laps and my achilles injury, however I grinned and bared the run to hold my place and finished in 7th overrall and 1st in vet 40 in 4.56 so very happy after a 1.39 run in particular. My eldest boy Ben running the last 400 m with me over the finish line was the best bit of course.
