Herefordshire Summer league race 3 – Shobdon – Race report

Race Reports

The hot, dry, dusty route was tough but what else can we expect from these summer league races?
Thanks to Neil for a report from the mens perspective so just a few mentions for the ladies and a bit of praise for our fantastic A team! First team on the night with a back to form Gemma first lady home, brilliantly supported by the ever-improving Kelly making up the team with Mark, Simon, Sam and Will. With only a few points between the first three teams it is going to be interesting to see how the Westhope race turns out, fingers crossed for no injuries and a full Croft turnout.

We had two ladies running for Croft for the first time, Louise Reynolds and Ireland Pearson. I think they both enjoyed it and that we will see them in more races to come – welcome to Croft to both of you.

Robyn and Jo were in the B team, together with Alec, Dave G, Nigel and great to see Mark P recovered from the three peaks – proving that he is not just a great coach but a great runner too!
Steph M was the next Croft lady home and fastest FV45, followed by myself and then very closely by Louise R and Sue P (fastest FV55, another fantastic recovery from the three peaks). Lucy is running well in her first summer season for Croft and was next Croft lady home followed by a very tanned Carol P, having returned from holiday just the day before. Steph and Tori both put in their custom sprint finish just ahead of Louise R who seems to be improving with every race, with Ireland coming in close behind who has only been running for a couple of weeks and wasn’t put off by the tough course.

A great big thank you for all the hard work that goes on behind the scenes when Croft has to organise a race. Mike and his team of helpers did a great job in clearing and marking the route. Everyone who marshalled gave a shout out as us runners went past and it was a welcome sight to finish to a drink and a doughnut. Thanks everyone.
