This race has a special place in the annals of Croft Ambrey Running club as it was instrumental in the formation of the Club. Long ago, 1981 in fact, unattached runners were not encouraged in the event. Existing local clubs were not keen to accept runners from outside their immediate area, this prompted a small group of us to form our own club and Croft Ambrey Running Club was born the rest, as they say, is history!
This year, the second year of the reincarnation of the race saw an excellent turnout of 11 Croft runners. The race was the 4th round of the Club championship and saw exceptional performances from most of our runners:- Stacey led the way, running a lonely race at the front to win in 1.45.14, Greg improved his time and position from last year to finish 6th in 1.57.00, Neil P 9th in 2.02.46, Nigel 10th in 2.04.47, Dave G 13th in 2.09.21, Paul CD 20th in 2.17.16, Ashley R 23rd (1st mv65) 2.19.16, Ian Price 29th 2.22.20, Jo 33rd 2.24.06 (some 61/2 mins quicker than last year)
Neil T 44th 2.31.58, Carol 56th 2.40.13 (81/2 mins quicker than last year) and finally TomD 75th in 2.53.37 in what was his 21st and maybe last Offa’s Dyke!
The performances of Stacey, Greg and Neil saw us retain the team shield.
Aww, don’t say that Tom!! keep it up!
