As a club we came to Shobdon to defend our second team place, and did just that, by the skin of our teeth, largely thanks to another storming run by Gemma (19th overall, and 1st woman by nearly a minute and a half), and ably supported by Nigel (16th) and Dave G (17th). Ben appeared for this race, fortunately for us, coming in a commendable 24th, with Patrick completing the men’s part of the team and Sue D the second Croft lady. (We consistently fielded at least 18 runners throughout the series, so were able to have three scoring teams). Mark P is returning to form, moving up the field in 60th place, Daren too was much improved on his painful run at High Vinnalls. Robyn (70th) paced her run well, closing in on Sue D (66th), whereas Sue P suffered a mishap when elbowed out of the way, requiring first aid patching up.
Gemma claimed an excellent 1st place in the series, with Sue D 1st FV50 and Sue P 3rd. Amongst the men Nigel claimed the 1st place in the MV50 section, with Neil T 3rd in the MV55. Tom was 3rd in the MV65, and Gary 1st MV70, me 2nd MV70 and Bryan, returning to the cross country scene, took1st MV75.
