Shobdon off-road – Race 4

Race Reports

The final 2014 summer league race was held on the hottest evening of the year, round the varied and attractive course at Shobdon Court. On home ground the best we could hope for was a first team place on the night, and 2nd overall, which was duly accomplished – in style. Suzanne romped away in the women’s race, 2 minutes ahead of her nearest rival, in a fine 13th place overall. Stacey also had an excellent race, only  a few paces behind winner Dan King, and his best finish to date. Simon followed in 6th place, and then Sam (35.21) and Dave G (35.23) in 10th and 11th – all great performances. Glyn (36.33) was just behind Suzanne (36.10), with Dave A ( 18th) and Martin (21st) a little further back. Ria Woodfield, running in a Croft vest for the first time, had an excellent run in 46th overall (6th female), and then came Gemma (55th), Sue D (57th) and Liz Bowers, another newcomer to Croft, close behind in 58th place (and first FV60). With Jo in 70th and Sue P in 78th our ladies performed magnificently. Series awards went to Sue D (promoted to FV40), Sue P (FV50), Stacey (3rd SM), Neil T (MV55) and Guy (MV70), as well as 2nd place to the A team, and 5th to the B team. Many thanks to Mike for all the work he puts into the summer league, and training us up to our present level.
