Virtual Running Challenges in Lockdown 2021

Race Reports

Report by Alice

At the start of January, whilst lockdown #3 continued to hamper club training and the prospect of races remained in the distant future, I set 12 virtual running challenges. The challenges ranged from running in the rain, taking a mid-run selfie, running in fancy dress to running your fastest 5k. The aim of the challenges was to motivate members to keep active during lockdown, to raise spirits, solidarity and to have fun! We had 17 members taking part in at least 1 out of the 12 challenges; 8 members completed all 12 challenges set. Well done to Kelly Bowen, Eric Apperley, Gemma Davies, Louise Reeves, Thea Preece, Suzanne Field, Flora Gunner and myself who completed all 12 challenges! Sam Harper, Guy Whitmarsh, Rob Wood, Roland Preece, Lisa Gray, Clare Preece, Steve Partridge, Gareth Leek and Jo Marriot all completed 1 or more challenges. Fantastic efforts were made by all! A massive well done to all members to took on these challenges and kept us entertained during this never-ending lockdown!
