The ups and downs of the summer series – a magnificent first team place (pulling us up to 2nd overall), and a beautiful summer evening, even if a bit warm for running. At least Mike was warm and dry. On the female front we had Suzanne (first SF, 15th overall), Sam H (1st FV40, 70th) and Sue P (72nd) all running strongly and putting us into 1st and 5th team places on the night, 2nd and 5th overall. Stacey is getting ever closer to a win, in 3rd place (32.04) just 44 seconds behind Eliot, with Simon 6th in 33.45 and Sam M improving all the time in 8th (34.35). With Dave G (35.25) in 11th, and then Glyn (gallantly letting Suzanne pick up an extra point?) in 16th (35.52), we had 6 runners in the top 16. Martin (22nd, 38.07) and Pat (25th, 38.33) both beat old man Steve – no mean feat. Neil T (40th, 40.38), benefiting from his increased training, was 2 minutes faster than last year and 1st MV55. Gary G (“I’m going to take this one easy”) finished strongly in 42.47 (53rd), a good minute ahead of me (59th) who failed to overhaul a Wye Valley lady at the line. Sam H (45.06) and Sue P (45.14) ran neck and neck throughout, keeping just ahead of Tom (77th, 46.02). Ashley was going well until the final loop in the top orchard, when heat and lack of fitness/confidence saw him drop out. Shobdon in 2 weeks, when we hope to hang on to our 2nd team place, ahead of Couriers.
