Wrekin Streak

Race Reports

Another warm sunny evening made the longish trip to this not very exciting fell race worthwhile. The route takes runners from the start in Forest Glen straight up the main path, mostly a mixture of stone and broken concrete, around the Wrekin trig point and back down again, a distance of 4.5km with 250 metre of climb.
Gary and Tom joined a near record field of 129 and again quickly regretted ‘back to back’ races following Leinthall and the Blorenge on Tuesday evening. However both got going on the descent with Gary finishing 87th in 27.08, 1st o/70, Tom was 104th in 29.38, 2nd o/65.
The race was won by Duncan Birtwistle in 18.50 with Emma Gould 1st lady in 20.59.
Following the race prize giving, the awards for the Shropshire winter fell series were given out and we collected Guy’s 1st o/70 on his behalf to questions of what is the secret of the Croft old fogies!?
