2019 Herefordshire Summer League – Westhope – Ladies Captains report

Race Reports

Big well done to all the runners bracing the wet conditions at our first summer series race at Westhope. Fantastic turnout for croft of men and females, a whopping 25 females on the start line was amazing.
Herefordshire has a strong frontline of female runners battling the cross country courses and doing the county proud so the competition is tough.
Claire Thomas from Ludlow runners took the female win of the race (32:53) with Gemma Mallet fast on her tail finishing 25 seconds behind into 2nd place. Croft then had a 3rd place female finish 30 seconds behind Gemma with our new runner Katie Ayres (welcome to the club Katie).
We continued to see incredible times with another new club member Hannah Fletcher who has shown pure determination to her training following her first marathon in Manchester this year.
Roxy Woodfield another member who is going from strength to strength with a very busy training schedule for various events including Ironman events shows nothing is holding her back.
Emma Jones has built strength in the hills taking on many recent tough challenges and it appears to be paying off as she charged up the hill sections around Westhope and Jo Tilby who has also put in many hours and miles of training to run the London marathon this year for Croft is also continuing to run strong starting the summer series very well.
It was great to see Sue Davies back on the start line, with Jo Marriot shortly behind. A welcoming start for Vicky Jones shortly followed by Sam Harper.

Following Mark’s new to running group at Christmas we welcomed sisters Naomi and Laura to the club and to the summer series, with positive feedback from them and keen to run the next race is news we like to hear.

Following in the footsteps of their uncle Tom Davies we also welcome sisters Lisa and Dawn to the club running their first race as Croft Ambrey members.

Carol Powell is a true inspiration with pure determination and positive attitude to take on the battles of life shows that rain, mud and hills are not going to stop her.

I’m not going to miss any out with brilliant running from Imee Marriot, Katie Belcher, Liza Austin, Steph King, Kerry Martin, Lisa Gray, Louise Reeves, Tori Dickinson, Gemma Davies and Theresa Jones.

All of these lovely ladies contributing to Croft Ambrey having a ‘J’ team in the first race. Well done to everyone. I look forward to seeing you all and more at our next race at High Vinnals, Ludlow on  26/6/19.
